Khalid Mude
Khalid’s journey from a SEND player to assistant coach highlights confidence, inclusion, and belief, proving disability should never limit ambition, opportunity, purpose, or dreams for young people everywhere.
Khalid’s journey — from a Pro Touch Soccer Academy SEND participant to assistant coach — is a powerful reminder that confidence, inclusion, and the right support can help ensure that disability never limits ambition or dreams.
Khalid first joined PTSA as a player in the football sessions designed for young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities SEND.
A few years on, he has become an integral part of the PTSA family, serving as an assistant coach for our SEND youth and sports development programme and helping deliver weekly sessions across Islington and Westminster.
Coaching has come naturally to Khalid, and it’s not difficult to see why. His brother, Liban, has also built a successful coaching career — working with professional clubs including QPR and Barnet — and is now coaching in Ghana. Football clearly runs in the family.
“Playing and coaching football gives me real confidence,” Khalid shared. “I enjoy learning different coaching techniques and helping players develop new technical skills.
“One of my favourite parts is preparing players for match day — getting them focused and in the right mindset.”
Reflecting on the impact of PTSA’s SEND programme, Khalid added:
“These sessions show young people that no matter your disability, you can still chase your dreams.”
