Eriona Mehmeti

Eriona’s journey shows progression from work experience student to academy coach and mentor, gaining qualifications, confidence, and leadership through Pro Touch Soccer Academy, inspiring girls and giving back through education.

Eriona began her journey with PTSA as a Year 10 work experience student. From the very first week, she demonstrated enthusiasm, professionalism and a genuine passion for sport and working with young people. She thoroughly enjoyed her placement and was determined to stay involved beyond her initial experience.

After completing Year 11, Eriona continued volunteering with PTSA, showing real commitment and consistency. Her dedication led to her securing an apprenticeship with the organisation upon leaving full-time education. This marked the beginning of a transformative five-year journey of personal, professional and social development.

During her apprenticeship, Eriona focused on coaching, youth engagement and community delivery. She secured a number of National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications, including accredited awards in Football, Tennis, and other youth and community-focused programmes. These qualifications strengthened her technical knowledge, leadership skills and confidence, enabling her to take on greater responsibilities within the organisation.

Over time, Eriona became a key member of the PTSA coaching team, leading one of the Academy squads and supporting the development of young players both on and off the pitch. She represented Pro Touch at tournaments across the UK and Europe, gaining valuable experience and further broadening her horizons.

As a young woman progressing through the coaching pathway, Eriona became a powerful role model for girls and young women aspiring to build careers in sport and community youth work. Her journey inspired others to follow in her footsteps, demonstrating what is possible through dedication, resilience and the right support network.

Today, Eriona works full-time as a Behaviour Mentor in a secondary school. She remains incredibly proud and grateful for the growth and development she experienced at Pro Touch, recognising the role it played in shaping her confidence, leadership and career path. She continues to maintain strong links with the organisation and regularly visits to reconnect with the young people she once coached — a true testament to her lasting impact and commitment to giving back.
